WHILE IT’S TRUE THAT HAVING A MEAL AT FAZIO WILL GIVE YOU L’ESPERIENZA ITALIANA, NOTHING COMPARES TO ACTUALLY TRAVELLING TO ITALY AND TOTALLY IMMERSING YOURSELF IN THE COUNTRY, THE CULTURE, THE PEOPLE AND THE FOOD.
Our 2018 Food tour is to Sicily, the largest Mediterranean island situated just off the ‘toe’ of Italy’s ‘boot’ and home to Sam Fazio’s parents before they emigrated to Australia to start a new life and a family. Consequently, this tour promises to be something very special.
After one night in Siracusa at the beautiful Hotel Des Etrangers in the heart of Isola Ortigia your home for the rest of the week is the stunning Case di Tindari which offers spectacular views of the Tyrrhenian Coast and the Aeolian Islands from its terrace and infinity pool. Apart from learning to cook some of Sam’s favourite Sicilian dishes your stay will include visits to the Sartorius Craters of Mt Etna, a tour and lunch at the renowned Gambino Winery in Etna, as well as a day exploring Taormina, Sicily’s most popular summer destination with its medieval churches and ancient Greek theatre.
You can do all this and more with Sam & Kerryn Fazio on their 2018 cooking tour to Sicily. Set for September when average temperatures range from lows of 15 to highs of 27 this tour is a fantastic opportunity to really enjoy this beautiful region of Italy with hosts who know the language, the culture, the customs and, most importantly for this tour, the food and wine. With plenty of free time to soak up the sun on the villa’s terrace, swim in the pool, explore the village of Tindari, enjoy a massage from our resident beauty therapist, Venera, or just relax, this is a tour which is guaranteed to give you l’eperienxa italiana.
